Our Parish

A friend of mine has put up a beautiful set of photos of our church building on her blog.  It must have been from Bright Week because we still have the beautiful chaos of bay leaves from Holy Saturday adorning the floor.  If you're interested, check out...

  1. I don't know why I always think this, but isn't it amazing how many different ways you can build/decorate an Orthodox church? Somehow, I am always surprised.

It's nice to see the parish church where you worship.

  2. Ours is a work in progress. It was a protestant (maybe Lutheran?) church before we acquired it, and now that we have some iconographers in our congregation, we are working on filling in all the empty space on the walls.

Is it very different-looking from your parish?

  3. There are a lot of "works in progress" in this country! I've been in very few that weren't.

Our church was purchased from a Christian Science group after it dwindled to 2 members. They ripped out the risers and a few other things and built an altar and iconostasis. Other than adding icons, I think that's all they had to do. They got off easy, IMO. You can see it at http://www.christ-the-saviour.org/home.html
